Join the Insomnia Symptoms Study

Our aim is to improve our understanding of the sleeping patterns of people with insomnia symptoms. We are hoping to better understand symptoms such as difficulty falling asleep and difficulty staying asleep at night, and how they change over time.
We plan to use the data collected in this study to inform how people might respond to new treatments for Insomnia.
Participants in the study complete a sleep diary and wear a sleep monitoring device for four weeks.

Complete online screening

Complete the online screening questionnaire to make sure you are eligible. Eligible participants are adults (age over 18) with insomnia symptoms. We also require people who do not experience other significant health issues, or who are currently receiving treatment for sleep.

Contact with researcher

A member of the research team will get in touch to schedule a time you can take part in research study. Please note that taking part involves visiting the University of Sydney Brain and Mind Centre (97 Church St, Camperdown) on three occasions.

Participate in the study

For four weeks, you will be asked to wear a sleep monitoring device on your wrist (called an Actiwatch) and complete a sleep diary each morning. We will ask you to visit the study site three times; at the beginning, half way through, and at the end. At the end, we will provide you with a report that contains an analysis of your sleeping data over the study period.
